Mission

EDYI’S Mission & Values

The mission of the Exhale Youth Intensive is to provide a dance education that empowers our dancers to reach their full potential and prepares them for adulthood.

Dancers will immerse themselves in lessons covering dance history, technique, kinesiology, leadership, communication, and performance. Through this program, we aim to equip our students for life beyond the studio by offering an education that is not just sufficient for the moment, but valuable for a lifetime.

The Exhale Dance Youth Intensive is dedicated to helping our community cultivate healthy, well-rounded adolescents that are ready to take on the world with compassion, strength, confidence, and grace! Our program performs in numerous events throughout the year including:

  • Exhale’s Production of the Nutcracker (December)
  • Exhale’s Extravaganza (February)
  • Regional Dance Competitions (March and April)
  • Exhale’s Spring Recital (May)
  • Norfolk Community Day (June)
  • National Dance Competition (July).

Leadership Building

Students in the EDYI program gain leadership skills by learning and performing solos, mentoring younger students, assisting in our recreational classes and leading/planning community events. These leadership skills include inclusion, a strong work ethic, “I can” confidence and accountability.

The EDYI program emphasizes the importance of education that reaches far beyond the classroom. Through a serious study of the art form, technique and history of dance, our company members gain the knowledge and strength needed for artistic excellence. Students participate in performances, educational workshops and events that will assist their personal growth on-and-off the dance floor. Exhale Dance Youth Intensive’s professional, passionate faculty, small class sizes, and a curriculum that emphasizes kinesiology, dance history, and innovative teaching methods bring our mission to life.
