Important: Competition Costume Care

Dear Families,

As we discussed during our welcome back meeting in August, please remember that each family is responsible for preparing and caring for their own costumes this competition season.

Costume care includes all steaming, ironing, and necessary alterations to ensure they are performance-ready. This may include taking in garments, shortening straps, or hemming pants and dresses to the correct length. While the fit does not need to be perfect, costumes must look clean and professional from the stage.  

For your convenience, I have researched local options and found that KMK is the most affordable and nearby. Their basic costs are as follows:

  – Hem (Pants or Dresses): $15

  – Straps: $10

  – Other Alterations: Fees assessed on a case-by-case basis

We are working on a tight deadline to have all costumes altered and prepared for the Extravaganza on February 28th. Miss Melissa will begin handing out costumes as soon as possible.  This is a team effort, and we want our families to feel like an integral part of this process.

Green team, please note that tap costumes will be coming home tomorrow. Most dancers will need these costumes altered for a better fit. Miss Melissa requires all costumes to be returned no later than February 13th so she can rhinestone them over winter break. If you plan to use KMK for alterations, please call them as soon as possible to schedule a fitting.

P.S. I also want to remind families that they will need a skin-toned leotard, team earrings and clean, performance quality tap and jazz shoes for upcoming competitions. A list of make-up and hair needs will be emailed out shortly as well.
