Next Year
The Exhale Dance Youth Intensive (EDYI) is a paraprofessional program for dancers in grades 2nd+. The Exhale Dance Youth Intensive mission is to provide a paraprofessional level dance education, for our students that are most passionate about their artform, that incorporates performance skills, technique and dance history in a positive team-like atmosphere. Students will participate in performances and educational workshops that will assist their personal growth on-and-off the dance floor.

***EDYI I will only be asked to attend a Friday production practice about 6-10 times a season
Summer Commitment:
EDYI Camp will be held August 12th – August 16th from 9:00am-3:00pm ***This is required to perform at all fall shows.
Technique Tuesday: Tuesdays on JULY 9th – August 6th EDYI I-II 4:00-6:00; EDYI III-V 6:00-8:00 (Technique Tuesdays classes are used as auditions for Nutcracker lead roles.
***Prices of all summer classes and camp are included in monthly tuition for the season.
Performances: Our company members perform roughly 4-7 times a season. We participate in meaningful community/benefit events. These shows may include Discovery Day (Friday night early September) Exhale’s Nutcracker (first Saturday in December)/Spring Production (Saturday in May), The Exhale Dance Extravaganza! (A weekend in February or March), The Haunted Train Ride (A Saturday in October), the Polar Plunge (Saturday in April) and Norfolk Community Day (Second Saturday in June). ~ Show dates change year-to-year. These are simply days that they are normally held.
What is the cost of tuition? We allow our company members to pay in 12-installments which are paid on the 1st of every month from July 2023- June 2024. Or, you can pay in full by July 1st and receive a 10% discount on class tuition ONLY. *Tuition includes one full set of dance clothes, team jacket and all costumes. Mandatory tap, ballet and jazz shoes must be purchased separately, which you can find on the next sheet.

Extra pointe or hip-hop: $26 a month per class.
Solo: Additional $37.5 a month
Duo/Small Group: Additional $24 a month
Families will also have to pay for tickets for our annual Nutcracker, Extravaganza and Recital.
Want to audition? The audition workshop will be held on May 29th from 4-5:30pm (level I-II) and 5:30-7:00pm (levels III-V) at our Holbrook Street location.
Individual Placements Meetings and Apparel Fittings: June 10th – 12th.
ACCELERATED PROGRAM
The EDYI accelerated program is for students who wish to take their dance education to the next level. Students in this program will develop their skills and strengthen their education by competing in competitions. Students must decide at our placement meetings if they wish to be in the accelerated EDYI program. Here is information on the competitions we are performing in and opportunities for specials (solos/small groups) to compete.
- Regionals: All accelerated students must compete in group dances in one regional competition, which will be held during a weekend in March, April or May.
- Nationals: All accelerated students must compete in group dances in Nationals. Nationals are held for 2-5 days, depending on the schedule, at the end of June.
- Specials: Students will also have the choice to compete in any solo or small groups (also known as specials), as well. Families must also make the decision to compete in any specials during their placement meetings.
- Extra Competitions: Specials may be invited to compete in other competitions as an extra educational opportunity. These opportunities will be completely optional for families, and there will be no pressure to attend.
Cost:
For your convenience the cost of competitions can be added to your monthly tuition. Or, you can choose to pay the amount in full by July 1st. (Since this is the cost the competition is charging to attend their event, there is no discount for paying competition fees in full.) Here is the additional cost monthly for the accelerated team:
EDYI I: $25 a month (compete jazz and tap dance.)
EDYI II-III: $38 a month (compete jazz, tap and one production dance)
EDYI IV-V: $50 a month (compete jazz, tap, modern and one production dance)
Extra rehearsals: Rehearsals may be scheduled as needed, and families will be informed in advance.
Here is the additional monthly costs for any specials:
Solo: $49 a month
Duo/Small Group: $34 a month
Extra rehearsals: Dancers performing a special in a competition will receive two private lessons before the event.
***All fees listed above include competition fees, rehearsals and tights.
Nationals Information:
Basic Schedule:
June 26th, Wednesday: Early morning for any title contestants. (Sophia, Lyla, Rose, Kalina, Amerie and Payton are all eligible to run for title. It is an amazing experience, and being a three time national title winner I highly suggest it.)
June 27th, Thursday night: likely the Disco Party and fun event kick-off!
June 27th – June 29th, Thursday-Saturday morning: Competition – Everyone competing should currently plan to be there Thursday – Saturday. We will not get a schedule until a week or so before the event.
June 29th, Saturday night: Dance On (All highest scoring groups/solos from regionals are asked to be part of this invite only competition) and final awards.
Groups/Solos Chosen for the Dance On: ***More groups may get into the Dance On when we compete in Hingham too. This is a huge honor and we are so excited to be asked to be part of the Dance On!
